Welcome to the United Way of Fostoria Web Page
What is the United Way?
The United Way of Fostoria (UWF) is a local nonprofit organization that has been supporting health and human service programs in our city since 1957. UWF has raised over $15 million to provide services for the needs of Fostoria area individuals.
Who makes decisions for the United Way?
United Way of Fostoria is a volunteer-driven organization, and its Board of Trustees is composed of knowledgeable community leaders. The Board establishes and maintains policy, and allocates resources to assure that UWF is managed properly.
Other volunteers serve in a variety of programs and activities. The UWF is independent of all other United Ways. All decisions are made by the local United Way, and 100% of the money raised in our community stays in our community.
Why should I give to the United Way?
It all begins with you! Your gift goes to help people who really need it!
We're local - funds raised in the area stay here to address local problems
We're accountable - volunteers decide which programs receive funds and ensure services are high quality and meet high priority community needs
We're efficient - volunteers help conduct the campaign to keep costs low
We're effective - by bringing the community together, we accomplish much more than we can alone.
United Way makes your caring count!
It's easy - payroll deductions make giving simple.
United Way is the only way you can give to the whole community. Supporting an organization of your choice is an option, but the impact of your gift is maximized by combining it with many others! You will then be part of a force that works together to strengthen our whole community, not just a single organization or cause.
How to I donate to United Way of Fostoria if I work in another city?
When the United Way campaign is conducted in your work place, you can designate that your contribution be forwarded to UWF. Simply write on the pledge card your desire to see your contribution go to UWF, and the United Way in that city will forward the money to UWF.
If I donate, will my name and address be sold to others?
No! As part of our Code of Ethics, the United Way of Fostoria honors the confidentiality of information and the privacy of our donors and beneficiaries.
Why do some United Way service providers charge fees?
United Way donations cannot cover the total cost of service providers' expenses. The service providers that charge fees generally adjust them according to a client's ability to pay and that fee is far below the agency's actual cost. This stretches your United Way contribution as far as possible and allows many more people to receive help.
